March and April line-ups

Friday 2 March: MOTH International Women’s Day Show
Southern Peninsula Arts Centre, Rosebud

MOTH returns to the community theatre at Rosebud to celebrate women in music with an array of female talent.

With Rebecca Barnard, Xani, Kerryn Fields, Ling Marra and Girl on the Hill. Plus special guests.

Rebecca Barnard is a singer songwriter who fronted popular 90’s band Rebecas Empire. Since then she has released 3 solo albums, and appeared regularly on ABC TV and radio. Rebecca is nothing less than a legend in the Australian music scene. Not to be missed.

Xani Kolac is well known to the Melbourne music scene, having sung and played violin for just under a decade with her drums/violin duo, The Twoks and lending her incisive attack and entertaining on-stage presence to artists and bands such as Clare Bowditch, Thando, Tim Rogers, Tin Pan Orange and Benny Walker. She has also spent most of 2017 directing a brand new ensemble, SPIRE, consisting of female instrumentalists from Melbourne and performing with the likes of Kate Ceberano, Kate Miller Heidke, Jen Cloher and Harry Angus. For this very special International Women’s Day event, XANI will be performing her heart-warming pop tunes together with incredible vocalist, Olivia Nathan.

Those who were lucky enough to catch Kerryn Fields at the Henry Wagons show in December will already know that Kerryn is a storyteller with an extraordinary voice and an exceptional way with words. The New Zealand native has worked her way to become a solid pinnacle in Australia’s music scene with her towering personality and enslaving voice. She is also very funny!

Local world music group Ling Marra need no introduction. They smashed it at MOTH IWD Show 2017 and are back by popular demand.

Girl on the Hill (no relation) is multi-award-winning young singer-songwriter, Sadie Mustoe, who has been astounding audiences with her outstanding musicianship and unique indie-folk songs. With a musical maturity that belies her years, Sadie (14) accompanies herself on the guitar, ukulele, violin and keyboard. In March last year, Sadie was a winning finalist in the ‘Music Count Us In’ songwriting competition run by Music Australia.

The MOTH IWD Show will be the opening event of a week of International Women’s Day events and activities including workshops, a film screening and a theatre performance featuring our very own, multi-talented Carole Patullo. The events starting on Saturday 3 March and all come under the banner ‘A Woman’s Place’. More info here.
